Part-Time Pay Calculation (Table)
Calculates time on duty, breaks, working hours, payroll hours, and daily wages from a table of shift start and end times.
Time on Duty = End Time − Start Time
Working Hours = Time on Duty − Break Time
Daily Wage = Payroll Hours × Hourly Wage
If the start time is later than the end time, the end time is treated as the next day.
Use the 24-hour clock; times beyond 24:00 are treated as the next day.
Payroll calculation methods vary by company.
The daily wage does not include premium pay for overtime or late-night work.
Working hours for 1 day must, in principle, be calculated in 1-minute increments. (Japan’s Labor Standards Act, Article 24: principle of full payment of wages)
Labor Standards Act, Article 34 (Rest Breaks)
Employers must provide a break of at least 45 minutes when working hours exceed 6 hours,
and at least 1 hour when working hours exceed 8 hours.
