This library performs calculations based on celestial mechanics, so the results may differ from the dates actually announced by Taiwan’s Executive Yuan.
We have verified that the calculation results for the period from 2017 to 2025 match the public holidays announced by Taiwan’s Executive Yuan.
*1. In Taiwan, if a public holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday becomes a substitute holiday; if it falls on a Sunday, the following Monday becomes a substitute holiday.
*2. If Lunar New Year’s Eve, Lunar New Year (Spring Festival), Children’s Day, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, or Mid-Autumn Festival falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, the adjacent Monday or Friday becomes a holiday, creating a long weekend that connects with Saturday and Sunday (Article 4 of the “Guidelines for Adjusting Work Schedules for Government Agencies”) . In this case, as a general rule, the Saturday of the previous week will be designated as a make-up workday (Article 5 of the same document).
*3. The exact holiday calendar is announced by the Executive Yuan of Taiwan around June of the previous year.
