This tool performs a simple calculation of the distance-dependent attenuation of noise levels required during construction.
When the noise level of a point source and the distance r from the measurement point are known, use the formula SPLr = PWL - 20Log10r - 11 for calculation.
[Caution!] This formula is based on the PWL of the noise source; generally, SPL is measured by a sound level meter.
This formula is intended for use in situations where the PWL of a noise source—such as an air conditioner outdoor unit—is clearly stated in a catalog or similar document, to calculate the noise level at a point r [m] away. It cannot be used to determine how much the noise level at an arbitrary point attenuates when it is r [m] away. (This clarification is added because many users have misunderstood this in the comments section.)

| SPL | dB |
*When the distance r doubles, the signal level decreases by 6 dB; when it increases tenfold, it decreases by 20 dB.
