Calculation of the Maximum Passenger Capacity for Small Vessels
Small Vessel Safety Regulations—Article 103 of the Detailed Rules

| Number of people | PeopleThe smaller of 1 and 2 |
N ≤ CLBF
N ≤ LB(F2 – 0.025L)/0.33
C = 2.69 – 5.31(D/B)²
F < B/5.5 + 0.09
0.78 < C < 2.27
N is the maximum number of passengers
L is the length of the ship (in meters; same applies below)
B is the vessel’s beam
F is the minimum freeboard at midship when unoccupied
F2 is the minimum freeboard at the stern when unoccupied
D is the vessel’s depth
h is the deck height
