This model aims to quantify a horse’s pure racing ability by focusing on the difference between its actual race time and the ideal benchmark time (race code) for those specific race conditions (distance, class, etc.), while linearly adjusting for external variables (weight and track conditions).
(Reference Time - Completion Time) × serves to convert the time difference into index points. By adopting a coefficient of 10, the system is designed such that the index increases by 1 point for every 0.1 seconds that the completion time is faster than the reference time, ensuring that fluctuations in time have the greatest impact on the overall index.

Calculations can be performed using simple arithmetic expressions based on the Baba track condition flags (1: Good, 2: Slightly Heavy, 3: Heavy, 4: Poor).
